Lot 229:
Description
This collection of assorted flatware and cutlery comprises a variety of pieces in mixed materials and patterns. The lot includes a twelve-piece fish service consisting of six knives and six forks with decorative engraved silver-plated blades and tines, fitted with yellow-toned celluloid handles. Also present is a twelve-piece set of dessert or fruit cutlery, including six knives and six forks with cream-coloured handles and stainless steel blades, accompanied by a large serving or carving knife with a matching cream-coloured handle. The remainder of the lot consists of a quantity of loose flatware including various tablespoons, dessert spoons, teaspoons, dinner forks, and dessert forks. These pieces are executed in a mix of silver plate and stainless steel, with some featuring ornate floral and scroll patterns typical of late 19th and early 20th-century styles. One blade bears the maker’s mark 1847 ROGERS BROS followed by a small circular symbol, representing the brand produced by the International Silver Company. Other knives in the collection feature blades marked for Sheffield manufacture.
