Description
An early 20th-century oak corner display cabinet of one-piece construction, exhibiting Arts and Crafts influences. The cabinet features a distinctive triple-arched cloud-style top rail above a single door. The door is inset with a leaded glass panel comprising eighteen rectangular panes arranged in a three-by-six grid. The piece is designed for corner placement with a panelled, angled reverse. Affixed to the front is a rectangular brass commemorative plaque with an engraved border, transcribed as follows: GIVEN BY HIS FAMILY / AT THE WISH OF THE / Rev. G. W. Seddon. / MINISTER OF THIS CHURCH. / 1914 – 1932. The interior is fitted with vertical wooden tracks containing holes for adjustable shelf supports.
