Lot 182:
Description
A mid-length, single-breasted staff uniform overcoat constructed from a heavyweight navy blue wool or wool-blend melton fabric. The garment features wide notched lapels, each fitted with an enamel lapel pin displaying the British Rail double arrow logo in a gold-toned finish on a light green rectangular base. The front closure consists of circular black buttons embossed with the same corporate logo against a textured, lined ground. The coat includes two slanted welt pockets at the hips and a single vent at the lower centre back. The interior is fully lined with a black synthetic fabric featuring a diamond-quilted pattern for insulation. This item dates from the late 20th century, post-1965, following the adoption of the modern British Rail branding.
