A Nest of Three Italian Sorrento Style Marquetry Tables with storage. COLLECTION ONLY

A nest of three 20th-century Italian Sorrento-style tables. The set comprises two nesting side tables and a smaller table configured as a hinged work or jewellery box. The octagonal tops feature clipped corners and are finished with burl walnut veneers. Each top is decorated with a central floral bouquet marquetry panel and scrollwork borders using contrasting light woods such as boxwood or sycamore. The mahogany-toned frames are raised on slender cabriole legs, with the two smaller tables featuring additional floral marquetry to the knees. The smallest table has a hinged lid opening to a compartmented interior with three sections. It is fitted with a brass lock and accompanied by a clover-headed key. No maker marks or labels are visible on the pieces.
