A low-seated nursing or bedroom chair dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece features a tall, slightly waisted backrest with two decorative buttons and a deep, circular overstuffed seat. It is upholstered in a bi-tonal deep red and cream floral patterned cut-velvet fabric on the front and seat, while the reverse and sides are finished in a coordinating solid deep red velvet. The edges are embellished with a matching red brush fringe. The chair is raised on four short, tapered dark hardwood legs, with the rear legs having a pronounced splay. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece. A small white inventory sticker numbered 12689 is present on the seat.
