Description

This lot comprises three items from the Second World War period. The first is a British Africa Star campaign medal, struck in bronze. The obverse features the Royal Cipher of King George VI surmounted by a crown, within a circular band inscribed THE AFRICA STAR. It is suspended from a silk ribbon with a sand-coloured base, a central red stripe, and two outer stripes of dark and light blue. The second item is a Silver War Badge, a circular discharge badge featuring the GRI monogram and the text FOR KING AND EMPIRE + SERVICES RENDERED +. The reverse is fitted with a pin fastening. The third item is an enamelled commemorative badge for the Canadian Pacific Line troopship S.S. Duchess of Richmond. The badge depicts a ship’s wheel over a nautical anchor, with a central shield showing the red and white chequered flag of the Canadian Pacific Line. A blue enamel scroll at the top is inscribed S.S. DUCHESS OF RICHMOND in gold-tone lettering.
