Description
A circular earthenware decorative plate or charger produced by W.H. Goss as part of the Cottage Pottery line. The piece features a wide scalloped rim and a flat central well, finished in a honey-coloured speckled glaze. The reverse is constructed with a foot ring featuring two pre-drilled holes designed for hanging. The decoration is hand-painted in a rustic style, depicting two large sprays of stylised floral blooms in shades of purple, yellow, and red, complemented by white daisies and green leaf accents. A dark brown or black line finishes the outer rim. The base bears a black printed factory mark consisting of a bird of prey perched on a torse, with the script text W. H. Goss Cottage Pottery to the right. This line was manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
