Smiths Enfield Bakelite Mantel Clock

A mid-20th century mantel clock manufactured by Smiths Enfield in Great Britain. The case is constructed from dark brown Bakelite and features a curved Napoleon-style profile with a molded base. The two-tone dial consists of a silvered outer chapter ring with black Arabic numerals and a dark circular centre. The dial is marked Smiths Enfield and Made in Great Britain. The clock is fitted with gilt-toned hands featuring a distinctive stepped lightning bolt design. Two winding apertures are located at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions. The rear of the clock reveals a mechanical eight-day movement with a brass plate and a striking mechanism that strikes on a single coiled metal gong. A metal winding key is included with the timepiece.
