Description
A 20th-century Chinese porcelain lidded vase of hexagonal baluster form, attributed to production in Jingdezhen, China. The body features six flat facets, with one face decorated in polychrome enamels depicting a narrative scene of three figures in traditional attire within a landscape of pine trees and rockwork. The reverse face displays a red seal script inscription consisting of twenty-one characters arranged in three vertical columns. The shoulders, neck, and lid are embellished with dense scrolling floral and foliate patterns in the famille rose palette. The lid is surmounted by a moulded finial in the form of a seated Buddhist lion with gilt highlights. Gold-tone detailing is applied to the rims and the vertical edges of the facets. The underside of the base bears a four-character apocryphal reign mark in red enamel.
