A collection of 5 various religious books and music volumes, primarily of British origin. The group includes the News Chronicle Song Book, bound in red cloth and containing sections for community songs, plantation songs, negro spirituals, children’s songs, sea shanties, hymns, and carols. Also present is The New People’s Hymnary in navy blue cloth with embossed lettering, and The Children’s Book of Hymns in blue paper-covered boards featuring a gilt-stamped illustration of a figure with a flag. The collection is completed by two volumes from the Novello’s Original Octavo Edition series: J. Stainer’s The Crucifixion, in tan paper wrappers with a decorative border listing classical composers and bearing a circular Novello & Co Ltd 5/- increased price stamp; and Handel’s The Messiah, bound in light blue cloth-backed boards with a central lyre vignette. The Stainer volume features a handwritten ink inscription at the head of the upper cover reading Lammack Methodist Church. All volumes are in octavo format.
