Description
A Mikado Model 8134 portable transistorised radio and integrated cassette recorder, manufactured in Japan. The unit is constructed with a black moulded plastic case featuring silver-tone metallic accents and a top-mounted chrome-finished carry handle. It incorporates an analogue slide-rule tuning dial with vertical scales for AM (550-1600 kHz / 188-550 metres) and FM (88-108 MHz) bands. The front elevation features a speaker positioned behind a vertically ribbed black grille adjacent to the cassette compartment. The top control panel comprises three rotary knobs for Tuning, Volume (Min/Max), and Tone (Low/High), and six push-buttons for cassette deck operations: Eject, Stop, Play, Fast Forward, Rewind, and Record. Slide switches are provided for FM/AM band selection and a Monitor function (Off/Tape/Radio). A multi-section telescopic antenna is fitted to the rear. The unit is designed for AC 240V 50Hz mains power via a standard C8 inlet or DC 6V via four C cell batteries.
