Description
A decorative handbell featuring a cast brass body and a turned wooden handle. The exterior of the bell is decorated with chased and engraved foliate and geometric scrollwork, featuring red lacquer or pigment infill in the recessed areas. This style of decoration is characteristic of mid-20th-century brassware from the Indian subcontinent. The interior of the bell shows concentric machining marks from the manufacturing process. The clapper is made of metal and is attached to the interior via a simple metal loop. The rim of the bell is polished brass.
