Description
An assortment of sheet music, songbooks, and music folios, primarily dating from the 1920s to the 1950s. The collection is housed within two modern ring binders, one red and one blue. Notable publishers represented include Novello and Co., Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew, Alfred Lengnick, and Francis, Day & Hunter. The contents feature a range of classical and popular works, including Coleridge-Taylor’s Three Dream Dances, Eric H. Thiman’s The God of Love My Shepherd Is, and A. Emmett Adams’ The Bells of St Mary’s (copyright 1917). Also present are Christian Sinding’s Rustle of Spring (Novello Edition), Anton Dvořák’s Humoreskes Op. 101, the Max Miller Song Book, and Elmer’s Tune. Many pieces bear the retail stamp of Pass’s (Music Dept.), Duke Street, Barrow, and several feature handwritten ownership inscriptions for Enid Stables of 89 Kent Street, Barrow. The items range in size from octavo songbooks to quarto-sized sheet music.
