A mid-20th-century novelty desktop pen stand, modelled in the form of an early open-top motor car. The stand is constructed from dark-stained hardwood, featuring a tiered oval base. The car body is detailed with dark-green painted mudguards and fenders with a textured finish. Accents include gold-toned decorative elements representing headlights, a steering wheel, and gear levers, likely made of turned wood or light metal. The interior cockpit is lined with red plush velvet. A dedicated receptacle is mounted to the side of the car to accommodate a pen. The set includes a tapered black desk pen handle, constructed from resin or painted wood, without a nib. No maker’s marks are visible on the piece.
