An English Earthenware Biscuit Barrel with EPNS Mounts and Grape Decoration

An English earthenware biscuit barrel of cylindrical form with a rounded base and shoulders. The body features a transfer-printed and hand-tinted decoration of large bunches of green and purple grapes with vine leaves, set against a pale turquoise gradient background. The vessel is fitted with a metal rim and a shaped swing handle. The metal rim is stamped with the words MADE IN ENGLAND and the characters E, P, N, and S within individual cartouches, signifying electroplated nickel silver. No manufacturer marks are visible on the ceramic base.
