Attributed to Margaret Milnes, St Mark's Basilica, Venice, Watercolour and Pencil

This work, attributed to Margaret Milnes, depicts St Mark’s Basilica in Venice as viewed from the Piazza San Marco. Executed in watercolour and pencil on paper, the piece features an architectural, sketchy style that captures the intricate facade and domes of the cathedral. Small figures are scattered across the foreground square, and a portion of the Campanile is visible on the far right edge. The work is signed in the lower centre foreground with a capital letter M followed by several cursive characters. It is presented in a cream-coloured multi-line wash mount and a stained wood frame with a gilt inner slip.
