A Set of four ceramic display plates featuring British game birds

A set of four ceramic display plates featuring transfer-printed scenes of British game birds in naturalistic settings. The subjects depicted include mallard ducks on a riverbank, mallards in flight over marshland, a pair of woodcocks in a woodland setting, and a pair of pheasants in a field with heather. Each central circular reserve is framed by a broad forest-green band. The outer scalloped rims are decorated with a grey printed scrollwork and floral filigree pattern, finished with a gilt edge. A small vertical printed mark consisting of the digits 08665 is located on the white rim area near the green band on one plate. The style and decoration are consistent with the Homeland Collection or similar British sporting-themed earthenware from the mid-20th century.
