Description
This item is an apothecary measuring glass, or graduate, constructed from clear glass. The glass contains numerous small air bubbles, known as seeds, which are characteristic of period glass manufacturing. The vessel features a conical body with a flared rim and a small, pinched pouring spout, mounted on a short, solid stem and a flat, circular foot. The glass is hand-etched with measurement scales on two sides. One side is marked TEA SP with numerical graduations at 1, 2, and 4. The reverse side is marked FL DRS with numerical graduations at 2, 4, and 8. This instrument was used for the dispensing of liquid medicines in a pharmacy or household setting, likely of British origin dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Capacity: Approximately 8 fluid drams (1 fluid ounce).
