An earthenware mug of cylindrical form featuring a vibrant mustard-yellow glaze, manufactured by Britannia Designs Ltd of Dartmouth, England. The vessel is constructed with a simple loop handle and a relief-moulded Greek key meander border encircling the base. The exterior is decorated with multi-coloured transfer-printed scenes. The primary face depicts a central view of Trafalgar Square, featuring Nelson’s Column, the National Gallery, fountains, and trees, captioned NELSON’S COLUMN TRAFALGAR SQUARE in black capital letters. The reverse side features a smaller vignette depicting a park railing, a street lamp, and a tree. The upper rim is finished with a thin gilt band. The base bears a circular black printed mark with a seated figure of Britannia holding a trident and shield. The text within the mark reads BRITANNIA DESIGNS LTD and DARTMOUTH ENGLAND. This type of souvenir ware is closely associated with the Lord Nelson Pottery range.
