Description
A mid-20th century West German art pottery vase attributed to Wekara. The vessel is of bulbous form with a short flared neck and a circular base, constructed from a reddish-brown terracotta earthenware body. The exterior features a textured decorative scheme consisting of vertical white impasto strokes applied over a dark brown ground, creating a rhythmic sgraffito-style hatched pattern. The interior and the top of the rim remain unglazed, exposing the natural terracotta clay. The base is impressed with the model number 461 over the size indicator 10, with the word handarbeit in a lowercase serif typeface below.
Approximately 10cm in height.
