An Aynsley fine bone china commemorative mug for the 1981 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer

An Aynsley fine bone china commemorative mug produced to mark the marriage of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. The cylindrical vessel features a multi-scrolled handle with gilt highlights. The front is decorated with a polychrome transfer-printed Royal Coat of Arms of the Prince of Wales, flanked by the Welsh Dragon and the Prince of Wales’s feathers. The reverse displays a genealogical chart for both the Prince and Lady Diana Spencer, surmounted by a crown and the initials C and D, with the text 21st Prince of Wales and the inscription Married 29th July 1981. St. Paul’s Cathedral below. The interior rim bears the inscription To commemorate the marriage of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to the Lady Diana Spencer in blue capital letters. The top rim and handle elements are finished with gold leaf. The base carries a blue printed manufacturer mark featuring a crown above a banner reading Aynsley, flanked by Est. 1775, with Made in England, Fine English, and Bone China below.
