Description
A charming mid-20th-century miniature cabinet of dark-stained wooden construction, designed as a decorative music box. The piece features a dual-door front with decorative scalloped trim to the top and base, supported by four bracket feet. The left door is adorned with a vintage paper label displaying the Latin liturgical text of Psalm 18 within a colourful scroll border, while the right door depicts a black line-art illustration of a seated figure. The interior is divided into two compartments; the right side houses a mechanical cylinder music movement. To the underside, a metal winding key is present alongside a paper label featuring a mountain range graphic, identifying the tune as “The Merry Widow” (Die lustige Witwe). This item serves as an excellent example of mid-century European folk-style miniatures, likely intended for use as a jewellery chest or dollhouse accessory. Dimensions: approximately 140mm x 105mm x 65mm.
