Description

This lot features a single Singer Model 66 portable sewing machine, a classic example of mid-century domestic engineering by The Singer Manufacturing Co. The machine is constructed from robust black-enamelled metal and is decorated with the ornate gold-toned filigree decal set. This manual hand-crank model is mounted on a dark-stained wooden base containing an integrated storage compartment for bobbins and notions. Key identifiers include the “The Singer Manufacturing Co.” script across the top arm, the circular brass Singer trademark emblem, and an intricately engraved silver-tone faceplate. The machine is identified by the brass serial number plate stamped EE070672, which dates the production of this specific unit to 1947. The assembly includes the original domed wooden carrying case, often referred to as a “breadbox” cover, featuring a wood-and-metal handle. The mechanical design incorporates a spoked balance wheel and a manual crank with a turned wooden grip.
