Description

This eclectic lot consists of four distinct collectible items spanning the mid-to-late 20th century. The collection includes a traditional wooden tobacco pipe, likely crafted from briar, featuring a heavily charred bowl and a black vulcanite or plastic stem. Also included is a piece of pharmaceutical ephemera in the form of a promotional matchbook for Ferrodic Tablets, used for iron therapy; the cardboard cover contains several unused pink-tipped wooden matches, each individually printed with the brand name. The philatelic interest is represented by a red 2.5d British postage stamp issued to commemorate the 1951 Festival of Britain, marking the centenary of the Great Exhibition. The final item is a numismatic commemorative medallion for the 1992 Preston Guild, struck in silver-coloured metal and held in a clear plastic sleeve. The obverse of the coin features the Paschal Lamb crest with the letters PP, representing the motto Princeps Pacis, while the reverse displays a detailed relief of the neoclassical Harris Museum and Art Gallery.
