Lot 91:
Description
This hand-blown glass frog figurine is crafted in the style of mid-to-late 20th-century Murano or a high-quality contemporary studio glass artist. The piece is produced using lampworking or hand-blowing techniques, featuring a stylised, rounded body and prominently applied glass eyes. It is finished with a striking iridescent Favrile style coating, which gives the surface a metallic, oil-slick sheen. Underneath the iridescent layer, a subtle, light-coloured veining or crackled pattern is visible, particularly on the back and legs. The base of the figurine is ground and polished flat to provide stability. The figurine displays a rich palette of deep cobalt blue, royal purple, and emerald green, with the iridescence adding brilliant flashes of golden-yellow and magenta. The applied eyes are fashioned from dark, possibly black or deep amethyst glass. No visible signatures, etched marks, or maker’s labels are present. Dimensions: Height 5.5cm; Width 7cm; Depth 6cm.
