Description

This lot comprises eight pieces of miniature heraldic porcelain produced by W.H. Goss at the Falcon Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent. Each piece is crafted from fine white glazed porcelain and decorated with colourful transfer-printed heraldic crests and coats of arms representing various British and European locations, including Portland, Brussels, and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. A significant feature of this collection is the inclusion of pieces modelled after archaeological or historical artefacts, with inscriptions such as Model of Ancient Font at Troy House, Monmouth, Model of Wensleydale Leather Jack, and Model of Roman Urn found at Seaford 1825. The assortment includes a small pitcher, a two-handled amphora, a cylindrical beaker, a footed font, various vases, and a perforated tea infuser. Most items feature the characteristic transfer-printed goshawk maker mark and W.H. GOSS signature on the base, often accompanied by registered design numbers such as Rd No 521972 and Rd No 578696. Several pieces are finished with hand-painted gilded rims. Heights range from approximately 3 cm to 8 cm.

Condition report:

The collection is in good overall condition. There is minor wear to the gilding on the rims and light surface marks consistent with age and handling. No chips, cracks, or evidence of repair were noted upon inspection.
