Shelley Porcelain Vase, Art Deco, Silhouette Landscape Design

A fine Art Deco porcelain vase by Shelley, England. The ovoid body is decorated with a continuous silhouette landscape depicting a watermill and trees against a vibrant, iridescent ground of graduated orange and yellow tones. The vessel tapers to a short, flared neck with a contrasting dark blue iridescent rim. The base bears the printed Shelley shield mark Shelley ENGLAND and a hand-painted pattern number, appearing to be 771 / 8645. This piece is a characteristic example of the factory’s high-quality lustre wares from the interwar period. Height: Approximately 14 cm.
