Lot 388:
Description
A mid-century modern ceramic vase produced by Spara Keramik. The vessel features an ovoid body with a waisted neck and a flared rim, characteristic of West German art pottery from the 1960s and 1970s. The exterior is finished in a mottled ochre and brown glaze, providing a textured backdrop for two bands of relief decoration. A narrow band encircles the rim, while a prominent central band displays a bold geometric diamond and lozenge pattern. These motifs are highlighted in vibrant orange, black, and turquoise-green glazes. The interior is coated in a neutral light-coloured glaze. The base features a recessed rectangular maker’s mark reading SPARA above the model and size numbers 550/20. Height: approximately 20 cm.
