Description
A single stoneware storage jug or flagon featuring a cylindrical body, sloping shoulder, and short neck, complete with an applied strap handle. The object displays a classic two-tone utility finish. The lower body is finished in pale, buff-colored unglazed stoneware, contrasting sharply with the upper shoulder, neck, and handle, which are covered in a glossy mustard-yellow or tan glaze. The shoulder is clearly marked with an impressed circular stamp reading “GOVANCROFT POTTERY 5 GLASGOW.” Immediately above this circular stamp, the number ‘2’ is impressed into the stoneware.
