Description
A pair of antique British wooden moulding planes manufactured by John J. Harley of Liverpool. The pair comprises one beading plane and one plane designed for a more complex profile. Both tools feature traditional beechwood bodies with a dark patina acquired through age and use. Each plane retains its shaped steel iron and corresponding wooden wedge. The toe of one plane is stamped with the maker’s mark JOHN J. HARLEY LIVERPOOL. The heels of the planes bear the stamped owner’s marks A. SIDNEY and a partially legible stamp appearing to read ATHOLDA. These tools date from the late 19th to early 20th century.
