A Trio of Hillstonia Stoneware Barrel Form Jugs

A trio of graduated stoneware jugs produced by the Moira Pottery Co. Ltd under the trade name Hillstonia. Each jug is designed in a rustic barrel form, featuring moulded textures imitating wooden staves and wood grain. The bodies are decorated with raised horizontal bands representing barrel hoops, accented with dark-painted spots to simulate rivets. The vessels feature pinched spouts and are double-handled, comprising a large upper loop handle and a smaller loop handle on the lower body. They are finished in a characteristic matte, buff-coloured glaze. The base of the jugs bears the hand-written mark Hillstonia in dark slip.
