Description
A set of four pale blue jasperware stoneware items by Wedgwood, comprising a teapot with matching lid, a small cream jug, and two circular open vessels. Each piece is decorated with applied white bas-relief sprigged ornamentation in the Neoclassical style. The teapot and jug feature various classical and mythological figures, including winged cupids and figures in traditional robes. The two smaller vessels are ornamented with a continuous band of relief-moulded leaves and vines. The items bear impressed marks to their bases as follows: the teapot is marked WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND with additional characters K, U, and 5; the cream jug is marked WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND with characters K and 2; one small vessel is marked WEDGWOOD, MADE IN ENGLAND, U, and 67; and the second small vessel is marked WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND. The inclusion of the MADE IN ENGLAND mark indicates a production date after 1891.
