A Mid-20th Century Black Painted Metal Deed Box

A vintage rectangular document or deed box constructed from folded sheet metal. The exterior and interior surfaces are finished with a black-painted coating. The box features a hinged lid with a central moulded grip to the front and a central keyhole lock. It is fitted with a rectangular drop-handle to each side for transport. The side bears an embossed black tape label reading W AND R NUTTALL, and a manila paper tag is tied to one handle with a handwritten inscription reading Walter and Rene NUTTALL 132. A printed adhesive label with the number 132 is affixed to the front.
