A Glazed Ceramic Budai Figure Incense Burner

A circular ceramic incense burner dish featuring a relief-moulded figure of a seated Budai. The figure is positioned on the rim of the dish, which serves as an ash catcher. The interior of the dish contains an integrated circular boss with a central aperture for the placement of an incense stick. The piece is finished in a uniform, dark, metallic-toned glaze with a high-lustre sheen. The form and style are consistent with contemporary East Asian decorative studio pottery.
