Description
A mid-20th-century precision engineering clinometer manufactured by E.R. Watts and Son Ltd, London. The instrument is constructed with a grey-painted metal body and a polished steel base, designed for measuring angles of slope or elevation. It features a circular spirit level set within a brass-coloured mount and a graduated adjustment dial with a vernier-style scale displaying numerical increments including 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55. A press to release button is located on the upper portion of the body. The face is engraved with the maker’s name, location, and serial number 39752, alongside a triangular logo containing a W. The instrument is contained within its original fitted dark wood carrying case, lined with green felt pads and secured by two brass hook-and-eye closures. The side of the case is stamped with the abbreviated title CLINO in yellow lettering. An internal paper label identifies the maker as E. R. Watts and Son Ltd of 123 Camberwell Road, London, and features a triangular trade mark containing the initials ERW and S.
