Description

This vintage terracotta vase is attributed to Turkish production, featuring a rustic chalice-like form with a wide, irregular flared rim and a tapering body set upon a spreading pedestal foot. The piece is hand-formed from a reddish-brown earthenware clay, which remains visible on the unglazed base and where the glaze has been applied thinly. The exterior is finished in a thick, speckled off-white or pale grey glaze, applied with an intentional distressed aesthetic that reveals the clay body at the rim, handles, and stem. The vessel is flanked by two scrolling, textured handles. Web research indicates this form and finish are characteristic of vintage Turkish terracotta pottery, often used in rustic or farmhouse interior decor. The surface exhibits characteristic glaze crawling and pitting from the firing process. No maker marks or factory stamps are present on the underside.
